# Map Enhancer — End-User License Agreement (EULA) and Source-Available Terms

Copyright (c) 2023 Michael Richer a.k.a. Vanguard — original Map Enhancer portions, licensed under the MIT License.

Copyright (c) 2026 Reaper8f — original contributions, modifications, and materials, only to the extent owned by Reaper8f and subject to the rights in the original MIT-licensed work and other third-party materials.

This repository contains material from the original Map Enhancer project and subsequent development. It is **source-available**, but it is not offered as a whole under an OSI-approved open-source license. The original portions identified as MIT-licensed remain under the MIT License reproduced in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`. These terms apply only to material for which Reaper8f owns or controls the relevant rights ("Reaper8f Materials").

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE TERMS BEFORE DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, COPYING, OR USING THE SOFTWARE. By installing or using an official binary, you agree to the terms applicable to the components you use. If you do not agree to the terms applicable to Reaper8f Materials, do not use those materials.

## 1. Definitions and scope

1.1 **Original Map Enhancer Materials** means the portions of Map Enhancer created by Michael Richer a.k.a. Vanguard and released under the MIT License, together with any other material expressly identified as MIT-licensed.

1.2 **Reaper8f Materials** means original code, documentation, artwork, UI elements, and other copyrightable material created by Reaper8f, excluding Original Map Enhancer Materials and third-party material. Reaper8f Materials may include modifications or additions to the project, but this definition does not remove or narrow any rights that apply to underlying MIT-licensed material.

1.3 **Third-Party Materials** means software, assets, libraries, game assemblies, and other material owned by parties other than Reaper8f, including material listed in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`.

1.4 These terms must be interpreted component by component. They do not replace, revoke, or restrict the MIT License applicable to Original Map Enhancer Materials, or any other applicable third-party license. If a provision here conflicts with an applicable third-party license, that third-party license governs the relevant third-party material.

## 2. Limited permission for Reaper8f Materials

Subject to these terms, Reaper8f grants an end user a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable permission to install and run the officially distributed compiled version of Reaper8f Materials solely as part of the Map Enhancer in-game modification for Railroader, for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

No broader permission to copy, modify, distribute, publish, sublicense, or commercially exploit Reaper8f Materials is granted, except where applicable law provides otherwise or Reaper8f gives prior written permission.

This section does not limit the rights granted by the MIT License or another applicable license for components covered by those licenses.

## 3. Source availability and contribution-only policy

The public repository is made available so that people can inspect the source, report issues, discuss changes, and submit contributions through the project's accepted contribution process.

For Reaper8f Materials, and except for rights necessarily provided by GitHub's platform terms or applicable law, repository access does not grant permission to:

(a) reproduce or redistribute source code or other Reaper8f Materials outside the repository;
(b) publish, distribute, or maintain a standalone fork, spin-off, alternative build, or derivative release containing Reaper8f Materials;
(c) publish modified source or binaries containing Reaper8f Materials;
(d) incorporate Reaper8f Materials into another mod, application, library, project, or product; or
(e) commercially exploit Reaper8f Materials.

Attribution alone does not grant any of these permissions. Written authorization from Reaper8f is required for uses not expressly permitted by these terms.

GitHub may provide platform features such as forking, caching, displaying, and creating pull requests for public repositories under its own Terms of Service. These terms do not purport to remove rights GitHub grants to users under those platform terms. Any use of Reaper8f Materials beyond those platform permissions remains subject to this license and applicable law.

The restrictions in this section do not apply to Original Map Enhancer Materials to the extent the MIT License permits the relevant activity, or to Third-Party Materials to the extent their own licenses permit it.

## 4. Restrictions on Reaper8f Materials

Except as expressly permitted in writing by Reaper8f, you may not:

(a) copy, adapt, modify, translate, or create derivative works from Reaper8f Materials;
(b) extract or reuse original artwork, textures, sprites, vector graphics, UI designs, documentation, or other copyrightable assets created by Reaper8f;
(c) distribute or make available Reaper8f Materials, whether in source or compiled form;
(d) bundle Reaper8f Materials in a mod pack, compilation, installer, archive, or other distribution; or
(e) remove or misrepresent copyright, authorship, or licensing notices relating to Reaper8f Materials.

These restrictions do not prohibit independent implementation of ideas or functionality to the extent permitted by applicable law, and do not restrict use of MIT-licensed or other third-party components in accordance with their respective licenses.

Nothing in this agreement prohibits reverse engineering, interoperability activity, or other conduct to the extent such conduct cannot lawfully be restricted under mandatory applicable law.

## 5. Contributions

Contributions must be submitted through a pull request or another process designated by the project maintainer. Submission is subject to `CLA.md`.

A contributor retains ownership of their original contribution, subject to any third-party rights and the license grant made in the CLA. The CLA grants Reaper8f permission to use and distribute accepted contributions as part of official Map Enhancer distributions.

Submitting a contribution does not grant the contributor or any other person permission to independently distribute Reaper8f Materials or publish a standalone derivative release. The contributor's rights in their own contribution are not transferred by this paragraph; the CLA governs the permissions granted to Reaper8f.

## 6. Ownership and notices

Copyright and license rights are determined separately for each component:

- **Original Map Enhancer:** Copyright (c) 2023 Michael Richer a.k.a. Vanguard. Licensed under the MIT License, whose full text is included in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`.
- **Subsequent original contributions:** Copyright (c) 2026 Reaper8f, to the extent those contributions are original works owned by Reaper8f and subject to the underlying rights described above.
- **Third-party components:** Owned by their respective authors and governed by their respective licenses.

Railroader, its game assets, and related names and trademarks belong to their respective owners, including Giraffe Lab LLC. This project is not represented as an official product of or endorsed by Giraffe Lab LLC.

No ownership of the Original Map Enhancer Materials or Third-Party Materials is claimed by Reaper8f. No ownership of Reaper8f Materials is transferred to a user by this agreement.

## 7. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, REAPER8F MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR QUIET ENJOYMENT.

Reaper8f does not warrant that the software will meet your requirements, operate without interruption or errors, or remain compatible with future game updates, other mods, hardware, or operating systems.

This disclaimer applies only to the extent Reaper8f is legally entitled to disclaim the relevant warranty. It does not alter warranty or liability terms applicable to third-party components under their own licenses.

## 8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, REAPER8F SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GAME SAVES, PROFILES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM use of or inability to use Reaper8f Materials, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This section does not alter the terms governing Original Map Enhancer Materials or Third-Party Materials.

## 9. Termination

The permissions granted under this agreement terminate automatically if you materially breach its terms, subject to any notice, cure, or other requirements imposed by applicable law. Upon termination, you must stop the activity that is no longer authorized and cease using Reaper8f Materials where required by law.

Termination does not revoke rights already granted under the MIT License or another applicable third-party license.

## 10. Additional permissions

Reaper8f may grant additional written permissions for Reaper8f Materials, including permission for specific redistribution, releases, integrations, or commercial uses. Permission must be explicit and applies only to the scope stated in the authorization.
